This skill requires specialization

Enthrallment (B191) APPEARS to be a no-default skill which requires Charisma as a prereq. On closer analysis though, it is not a skill AT ALL: rather it is a CATEGORY. Based on this, the prereqs listed apply to ALL FOUR of the skills, and then any prereqs they list are IN ADDITION to that.

Due to lack of defaults this means without Wild Talent that like Spells one would need to observe someone using the skill to learn it.

Prereq[]

Initially it required a minimum skill level (12) in Public Speaking

two optional prereqs[]

F135 allowed Dancing or Erotic Art (though strangely not Singing) to substitute for that.

  • Fantasy refers to "the Enthrallment skills." referring to the other ones listed in smaller font size on B191

Whichever skill is chosen also sets the maximum skill level of Enthrallment, similar to how Thaumatology or Ritual Magic sets if for the path skills.

THIRD option[]

F214 the Courtesan lists one of Dancing or Erotic Art as a secondary skill but instead of one of them it has a third option:

"may have one or more Enthrallment skills (see p. B191) with Sex Appeal rather than Public Speaking"

An Unusual Background is suggested to gain access to the skills. This is not part of the standard Courtesan template.

Versatile is called out for Erotic Art but no other skills even though they might benefit from imagination.

Other skills[]

They are listed under Enthrallment but have unique names. All are also Will/Hard. They are listed in alphabetical order but this is NOT the order they can be obtained in, when analyzing prerequisites.

"All four Enthrallment skills" emphasizes that "Enthrallment" is itself not a skill.

  • Persuade requires 1 minute and 2 FP to attempt and emulates Hypnotism. It is the prereq for 2 of the more advanced skills (Suggest and Sway Emotions) which require it at 12 to buy. MOV adds to reaction rolls. Duration is indefinite (until opinion is changed)
    • Sway Emotions requires 10 minutes and 4 FP to attempt, lasts 1 hour
    • Suggest requires 20 minutes and 6 FP to attempt, lasts 10 minutes, and it needs to be at 12 to buy the next...
      • Captivate requires 30 minutes and 8 FP to attempt, and removes free will from those who fail to resist
        • a certain amount of injury, attack from bard, or unconsciousness/sleep by subject/user causes this to end. Otherwise has no limit to duration.

The 3 advanced abilities' time requires "uninterrupted storytelling" while Persuade does not specify this, indicating that it might be possible to do with interrupted storytelling.
