Cost: 10/limb (base cost)

Extra Arms is a exotic physical advantage where you have more limbs which you can use manipulate objects more then the human norm of two. Despite the plurality, 1 level of it buys just 1 extra arm.

The enhancements and limitations can be applied to beings with one or two arms. "Point cost is equal to 1/10 the percentile modifier per affected arm." Also "Those with one arm can only apply these modifiers once, but also get the -20 points for One Arm"

When Legs are considered Arms[]

"Example: You can use your feet as hands, but can’t walk while doing so. This is Extra Arms 2 (20 points) with Temporary Disadvantage: Legless (-30%), for 14 points."[1]

Special Enhancements[]

Special Limitations[]

  • Foot Manipulators (-30%); [-3]
  • No Physical Attack (-50%); [-5]
  • Short (-50%); [-5]
  • Weak (-25% or -50%); [-2.5] or [-5]
  • Weapon Mount (-80%); [-8]

Forum information and quotes[]

Naturally Long Arms (2013)[]

According to post 8 of Long Arms vs Size Modifier naturally long arms (high SM, free, or stretching) which do not buy this do not get a damage bonus.

I was under the impression that if you had multiple arms, half of your arms (round down) are your "good" arms and the other half (round up) are your "off" arms. But I don't have my books at the moment.

Kromm in 2008[]

in 2008 he suggested borrowing the 'Force Extension' enhancement from Stretching in P78 to allow for an extra arm which could not be injured. He also based 'Shield Mount' on 'Weapon Mount'.

Kromm's response also clarified how extra arms works with the number of parries (or blocks) that a character could perform before suffering the -4 (or -5) for cumulative defenses per turn:

you get one additional block or parry per hand, regardless of number of hands or number of attacks

http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=64987 re Exxar's inquiry:

The rules for Karate and Judo state that you can parry once with each hand, and that the cumulative penalties for parrying (-4 or -2 with TBAM) more than once accrue separately for each hand.
If a character takes Extra Arms, is he able to parry in this manner with each of the extra hands?

PK responded:

Sure! It's one of the benefits of Extra Arms.

This was in line with what Kromm had stated the preceding year.

Kromm in 2012[]

Eveything is at -4 for using multiple hands at once.
You get one master hand and everything else is at -4 for the off hand.
Thus, it's -4/-8/-8/-8. Anything worse and Extra Arms wouldn't be worth 10 points/level.

What isn't addressed is how to deal with other inherant non-extra limbs like legs or head and their possible involvement in DWA.
